This volume is part of the comprehensive English translation of al-Tabari's monumental work, "The History of al-Tabari," considered one of the most important universal histories produced in the Islamic world. Volume VIII, titled "The Victory of Islam," covers the history of the Muslim community and the biography of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the middle Medinan years, specifically from A.D. 626 to 630 (A.H. 5–8). It begins with the unsuccessful last Meccan attack on Medina, known as the Battle of the Trench, and details the subsequent events leading to the collapse of Meccan resistance to Islam. The volume also discusses the Treaty of al-Hudaybiyah, the conquest of Mecca, and the expansion of Islam during this period. The translation aims to provide English-speaking readers with access to this critical historical account, offering insights into the early years of the Islamic community.
