This is the first systematic study of how Jacques Lacan conceptualizes time. Wang argues that Lacan’s notion of time is central to his understanding of subjectivity, and identifies three temporal registers (real, symbolic, symptomatic/sexed) aligned with Lacan’s Real–Symbolic–Imaginary triad. The book shows how time in Lacan’s work is not just consciously experienced, but also embodied and generated symbolically, and explains how this temporal framework underlies Lacanian concepts like desire, language, and the body.
