This work is the author’s Ph.D. dissertation from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. It investigates research meteorologists’ use and evaluation of digital information and communication technologies (ICT) in scientific research tasks and examines relationships between ICT use and research output characteristics such as data integration and interdisciplinarity. The study uses surveys and interviews to analyze ICT impacts and discusses barriers and suggestions for improving research infrastructures.
