Volume 77 of the IARC Monographs on the Evaluation of Carcinogenic Risks to Humans critically reviews and evaluates the carcinogenic hazards posed by exposure to a range of industrial organic chemicals based on epidemiological, animal, and mechanistic evidence. A Working Group of experts met in Lyon, France in February 2000 to assess sixteen compounds—including aromatic amines, ethanolamines, esters like di(2‑ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), and others—for their potential to cause cancer in humans. The monograph classifies several agents as probably or possibly carcinogenic, revisits earlier evaluations in light of new data, and provides authoritative risk assessments that inform international cancer prevention and occupational safety policies.
