This book examines the foundations of economic theory in light of findings from cognitive and behavioral science, arguing for a “microexplanation” model that reconciles neoclassical microeconomics with realistic accounts of human cognition. Ross surveys neoclassical, behavioral, experimental, and evolutionary economics, then applies philosophical insights from cognitive science to critique and reformulate assumptions about agency, rationality, and choice. The result is a rigorous interdisciplinary framework aiming to ground economic analysis more firmly in empirical and psychological reality.
