The Need for a Sacred Science is a philosophical and metaphysical critique of modern secular science. In this work, Seyyed Hossein Nasr argues that contemporary science, having separated itself from metaphysical and spiritual principles, has contributed to the spiritual crisis of modern civilization. He calls for the revival of a “sacred science” grounded in traditional metaphysics, divine knowledge, and spiritual cosmology. The book explores the relationship between revelation, reason, metaphysics, and scientific knowledge within the Islamic intellectual tradition and other traditional civilizations.
